Animals Currently Available for Adoption

Horses and other animals in need are currently in the care of SHARE volunteers, waiting for a good home. If you are interested in adopting an animal from SHARE, you can see some of the current cases here. Please review our Adoption Requirements before submitting the Adoption Application.

The Starved Horse

My heart hurts because I am not loved.
I wish I could fly away just like a dove.
My tail no longer swishes back and forth.
I have lost everything that I was worth.
I am too skinny and too weak to care.
Something that no-one should ever have to bear.
Maybe I will get fed today.
Why am I teasing myself this way?
I know I will not get food or water.
To my owner I am just a bother.
They might love me I try to think.
Nicer thoughts I try to seek.
Today I will lay down in the mud.
Fall asleep and never wake up.

Adonis's Story:	ADOPTED! Adonis is a beautiful two year old Clydesdale that has two white socks on his back feathery feet. He has a super sweet temperament and is a fast learner. He is currently learning how to walk on a lead rope and is progressing well. We have copies of papers on both sire and mare and he probabley can be registered. His adoption fee is $800.00

Bella's Story:	ADOPTION PENDING Bella is a beautiful blanketed mare who has a very sweet disposition. She is around 14 hands tall and is well broke to ride. She would be probably be safe for children. She knows how to load and will stand like a lady for a farrier. Bella is a sweetheart who is looking for a forever home. Bella is also broke to ride and is most likely kid-safe. Super quiet!

Bonnie's Story:	Bonnie was one of the foals born to the Coles County Rescue horses, and what a cutie she is! She is now 2 years old and is chocolate with a thick mane and tail that are starting to lighten. Gorgeous, refined face, she is sweet as can be and a real looker some day. No bad habits and leads on a halter. Her adoption fee is $500

Daisy's Story:	Daisy is a stunning brown and white paint horse. She is under 14 hands tall and is broke to ride. She knows how to load and will stand for a farrier. Daisy is a little bit shy but she is coming out of her shell more and more everyday. She is a lady on the halter and is starting to show us her true potential.

Julie's Story:	This horse is NOT up for Adoption. Julie is an off the track Thoroughbred. She is about 22 years old. She has had pin firing to her legs which is an old way of killing pain to keep them running on the track. She is about 16.2 hands and is bay in color. We found her in Kankakee with horrible wounds to her legs and she was so thin we did not think she would make the trip home. She spent 3 days at the veterinarian for her wounds. They had to inject antibiotics directly into the joint and she stood and let them. She must have known they were trying to help her. She is not sound because of her injuries and thus cannot be ridden. Julie is a sweet girl who has found some friends at her new home. Julie is being sponsored by Cindy & Faith Dauber. A picture of this beautiful mare will be coming soon. Julie had another bath last night. She loves her baths. If I have a garden hose she comes up to me to try to get in the water. She is doing great.

Lady Venus's Story:	ADOPTION PENDING Venus is a beautiful mare that has a wonderful disposition. She is extremely well behaved and looks as if she has been shown in the past. She is probably broke to ride and is a lady on a halter.

Samantha's Story:	Samantha is a beautifulAnglo Arabian mare. She is a bay with a blaze. She is a sweet horse that has a beautiful gait. She is broke to ride and is approximately 15.3 hands tall. She knows how to load and will stand for a farrier. Her adooption fee is $500

Shygirl's Story:	What a looker. Shygirl is a very tall, flashy chestnut mare and gaited to boot. She can be a little shy when meeting people at first, but has come a long way since her rescue and is far more comfortable with people. She has an upside down triangle shaped star on her forehead. Could make a great trail or open show horse with some work!

Snowflake's Story:	Snowflake, named for the characteristic spot on her forehead, is a gorgeous chestnut mare with a small star on her forehead. Snowflake is well broke to ride and has an exceptionally soft mouth, will need a rider with soft hands. Snowflake knows how to neck reign and is very good about having her feet handled. She also has a wonderful gait, what a smooth ride!

Spirit of the Wind's Story:	Spirit is a beautiful brown and white paint that has the sweetest disposition in the world. She is under 14 hands tall and is broke to ride. She knows how to load and stand for a farrier. She is child broke and her adoption fee is $500. Spirit is currently in foster care, please contact us to set up a meeting with this gorgeous girl.

Sundance's Story:	Sundance is a pintaloosa, half pinto, half snowflake Appaloosa! Now there's a horse of a different color. Sundance is halter broke and soon to be started under saddle.

Willow's Story:	Willow is a 3 year old Egyptian Arabian. She was rescued very close to starvation. Another week and she would have died. She has great conformation, is halter broke and stands for the vet. She is a bay with a blaze and would make a great trail horse or open show horse, unfortunately we do not have papers on her.
