Animals Currently Available for Adoption

Horses and other animals in need are currently in the care of SHARE volunteers, waiting for a good home. If you are interested in adopting an animal from SHARE, you can see some of the current cases here. Please review our Adoption Requirements before submitting the Adoption Application.

Certain horses on this list are considered sanctuary horses. These animals have special needs that are unusually significant or difficult to manage. Unfortunately, we feel it is unlikely they will ever be adopted and so we have labelled them as such. However, we welcome sponsorships for these horses, or if you think you could provide for them as a lifetime adoptor or foster home, please contact us to discuss the situation.

The Starved Horse

My heart hurts because I am not loved.
I wish I could fly away just like a dove.
My tail no longer swishes back and forth.
I have lost everything that I was worth.
I am too skinny and too weak to care.
Something that no-one should ever have to bear.
Maybe I will get fed today.
Why am I teasing myself this way?
I know I will not get food or water.
To my owner I am just a bother.
They might love me I try to think.
Nicer thoughts I try to seek.
Today I will lay down in the mud.
Fall asleep and never wake up.

Roster of Available Animals:

Name:
Angie
Age:
35+
Gender:
Mare
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Miniature Horse
Location:
SHARE - Sanctuary horse
Angie's Story:
Angie is a 35+ year old miniature horse who came to SHARE years ago. She was a companion to another older horse who was being euthanized, and the family no longer needed her, so SHARE was called to take her. Angie has Cushing's disease and Heaves that are managed with medication. Because of her advanced age and health problems, and because she's really a symbol of what SHARE does, Angie is a sanctuary horse and will stay at SHARE for the rest of her life.

Name:
Baker
Age:
25 years (1989 birthdate)
Gender:
Gelding
Species:
Horse
Breed:
AQHA
Location:
SHARE - Sanctuary horse
Baker's Story:
Baker was adopted several years ago but returned to SHARE just before Christmas 2012 when his owner lost interest–-absolutely no fault of Baker’s!

At a recent vet check to determine how much riding would be comfortable for Baker, the vet found a couple of issues that make Baker's condition a little more unknown, so the decision was made to let Baker remain at SHARE for the rest of his life. With his sweet attitude and great ground manners, he'll continue to be a volunteer favorite here.

Name:
Blossom and Smokey
Age:
33 and 34
Gender:
Mare & Gelding
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Quarter Horse
Location:
Share - Sanctuary horses
Blossom and Smokey's Story:
Blossom is the bay horse (in front), and she's blind. Smokey is her brother, and her guide horse. They are 33 and 34 years old (as of 2014), and are always together, because Blossom depends on Smokey to guide her, and he understands she's blind and needs extra help. They are very special horses who are "sanctuary horses" at SHARE--they are not available for adoption due to their special needs, and we will provide a loving home for them until they are no longer comfortable. Smokey and Blossom are very friendly horses and love being groomed.

Despite their advanced age, they are in gorgeous condition and like several other oldies at SHARE, are proof that old age shouldn't automatically mean poor condition.

Update 09/05/14: We had to say goodbye to one of our long time residents today. Blossom went down in the pasture and was unable to get up. Our vet came out and we tried everything we could to get her up but Blossom was telling us that she was done. She was close to 35 years old and had lived here for the last 9 years. Even though Blossom was blind she was always trusting of everyone and enjoyed being groomed. She left behind her lifelong friend Smokey who is also close to 35 years old. We knew she couldn't stay with us forever but were not expecting her to leave us today. Please keep Smokey in your thoughts as he tries to recover from losing his best friend.

Name:
Buddy
Age:
Estimated 2008 or 2009 birthdate
Gender:
Gelding
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Quarter Horse-Arabian (not registered)
Location:
S.H.A.R.E.
Buddy's Story:
Buddy came to SHARE as part of the Toledo Ten rescue. He was in very poor condition, but is now healthy with no issues whatsoever. He came with his name and it definitely fits--he is a friend to everyone, horse or human! He's been in different groups and gets along well with a variety of horse personalities.

Buddy is 14.1 hands high and well built. Like all the others from the Toledo rescue, we had to geld him, which we did in January 2012 once he reached a healthy weight. We started him under saddle in Fall 2012, and in one session he learned about and easily accepted a saddle, bit, and a rider without any fuss at all. He is going to be super easy to break out and would be a good youth project or first training experience for an otherwise experienced horse owner. Buddy is a great smaller horse who just needs a family. In July 2014, after having time off from training due to not enough volunteers, we were finally able to continue Buddy's training. He is now green broke to ride and coming along nicely. He has a very willing attitude and will make someone a great horse. We'll keep working on him until he's adopted.

You can keep track of new photos, videos, and other progress on his updates page.

Buddy's adoption fee is $500.

Name:
Captain
Age:
Approx 20 (1994 estimated birthdate)
Gender:
Gelding
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Arabian
Location:
SHARE
Captain's Story:
Captain is a 20-something year old Arabian gelding. He came to us as a neglect case in Fulton County and wasn't being fed well. After he gets to a healthy weight, we'll evaluate him for riding. We suspect he is broke to ride. He is an energetic horse with good ground manners and a fast learner.

Name:
Chaos
Age:
16 (1998 estimated)
Gender:
Gelding
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Appaloosa
Location:
SHARE
Chaos's Story:
Chaos and Pete came to SHARE after a Dept of Ag investigation. He had horribly overgrown front hooves and had probably been kept in a stall for a long time. His legs and belly were caked with manure and we were told both horses may have foundered.

When SHARE picked up Chaos he could barely walk, so the decision was made to take him directly to the vet's office, rather than force him to unload, load, and go for another trailer ride later. He needed pain management, x-rays, and the vet and farrier (who works in the vet's office) to be able to formulate a plan together.

Fortunately, there was no founder but Chaos had bad abcesses in both feet, which was contributing to his pain. His hooves were so overgrown that he was walking on hoof wall. Due to the lack of hoof care he suffered, he will only ever be pasture sound. He is a very sweet horse, with a lovely personality. His adoption fee is $300. Email sharehorses@gmail.com if interested.

Name:
Charity
Age:
Teens
Gender:
Mare
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Quarter Horse (unregistered)
Location:
SHARE
Charity's Story:
Charity is a sweet chestnut mare who came from the Muncie, IL rescue, you can read about it here. We believe her to be in her early teens, if even that old. She's blind. When she arrived at SHARE, she had a lump in her mouth that had gone untreated for who knows how long. She is the dam to Domino, the first colt we took in from this neglectful owner back in November, who has since been adopted. She was a good mom and did her best for him, at the expense of her physical condition. Charity is a friendly mare who loves attention from people. She would make a great companion horse or pasture pet for the right family. Until then, she is safe at SHARE as a Sanctuary Horse.

You can see more pictures of Charity on her updates page. Her adoption fee is $300.

Name:
Copper
Age:
16 (born 1998)
Gender:
Mare
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Missouri Foxtrotter
Location:
SHARE
Copper's Story:
Copper is still at SHARE following the Ernest Rose case from 2007. Almost 70 horses were found to be living in terrible conditions without proper care. Various horse rescues collaborated to save the horses, and SHARE received 15 of them, including Copper. Several of the horses we took in have since been adopted! Copper would love to have her chance at a forever home as well.

Copper is pasture sound only, and really only needs a good-sized pasture for her to get out and move and she is a happy horse. She would be a good companion horse for a variety of other horse personalities, and is very docile and well-mannered toward people. This is an attractive mare with good manners who is easy to handle and care for. Please consider making her your pasture pet or companion horse. Her adoption fee is $300.

For more information, please email us - sharehorses@gmail.com

Name:
Crystal
Age:
9-10 (2003-2004 birthdate)
Gender:
Mare
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Caspian Horse
Location:
Share - Sanctuary horse
Crystal's Story:
Crystal came in with 3 other Caspian horses when her breeder lost her home. Crystal suffers from some dental problems as well as an undetermined autoimmune disorder (possibly from ingesting something poisonous at some point) and came in in pitiful condition. Initially the vet checked her every few weeks to draw blood for a blood test and give her a steroid shot. Luckily, she's not needed a steroid shot after a few months, so she has reached some improvement. Because her teeth are in really bad shape for her age and we don't know when she might have more medical issues related to her autoimmune issue, we're considering her a sanctuary horse so she will stay at SHARE for as long as she can be kept comfortable.

We are looking for a sponsor to help out with Crystal's medical expenses. It is possible that she might be available for adoption to a very special home--Crystal must be closely monitored, currently sees the vet monthly, and will continue to have significantly higher medical costs in the future. Adopting Crystal is a significant commitment and isn't for everyone.

This photo was taken about 5 months after Crystal's arrival and she looks 100% better!

More pictures of Crystal are available on her updates page.

Daisy
Age:
In her early 20's
Gender:
Mare

Daisy's Story:
Daisy was relinquished with Sister, also adoptable, due to financial issues. Daisy is blind, but is a sweet and patient horse who is easy to handle and very calm and trusting. She could be adopted into a special home as a pasture pet or companion to another horse, otherwise she will be safe here at SHARE as a Sanctuary Horse.

Her adoption fee is $300.

Breed:
Pinto
Location:

Dancer's Story:
Dancer is a Pinto gelding who came from the Muncie, IL rescue, you can read about it here.

Dancer was in very poor condition when he first arrived, but has made a full recovery and is a wonderful and friendly horse. He has been started undersaddle and is doing quite well. He has a great attitude and enjoys having a job. Dancer is going to make a great horse for anyone! You can see more pictures of Dancer on his updates page. His adoption fee is $500.

Name:
Dash
Age:
2010 birthdate
Gender:
Gelding
Species:
Horse
Breed:
AQHA registered
Location:
SHARE
Dash's Story:
Dash is a well-bred quarter horse who, as a foal, was accidentally kicked in the head by another horse. He sustained permanent neurological damage from the trauma. He is well-mannered, safe to be around, and mentally sound, but he is not and will never be safe to ride. When it was discovered that he has unsteadiness and neck pain when being ridden that could cause him to rear or react in other ways that could seriously injure a rider, he was set to be euthanized, and that is when SHARE stepped in. Dash is looking for a home as a pasture pet only. He is an easy-going, silly, young gelding and would be a great pasture mate for another such horse.

His adoption fee is $300.

Name:
Dazzle
Age:
6 (2007)
Gender:
Mare
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Pinto
Location:
SHARE
Dazzle's Story:
Dazzle was adopted from SHARE a few years ago with another mare (Spirit - also available for adoption), and was being ridden by the teenagers of the family. The family ended up moving and couldn’t keep them, so they both came back to us. They are both on the smaller side, being around 14 hands.

Dazzle is deaf, but she is still easy to handle. She is broke to ride for an intermediate rider. Her adoption fee is $500.

Name:
Dew
Age:
11 (2003 estimated birthdate)
Gender:
Mare
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Pinto
Location:

Dew's Story:
Dew is a pinto mare with some really loud and unique markings, who came from the Muncie, IL rescue, you can read about it here. She is blind and we believe the cause of her blindness to be cataracts, which may be operable. Despite her blindness she is a sweet mare, easy to handle, and really likes people.

Dew has conformation issues which make her pasture sound only. She would make a great companion to another sweet horse. She is safe with us at SHARE as a sanctuary horse unless the right home can be found.

You can see more pictures of Dew on her updates page. Her adoption fee is $300.

Name:
Jazz
Age:

Gender:

Breed:
Pinto
Location:

Jazz's Story:
Jazz is a pinto gelding who came from the Muncie, IL rescue, you can read about it here. He was so sick that he collapsed when volunteers were trying to load in him into the trailer to get him to safety at the rescue. He had severe pneumonia and was in such severe condition we were really worried, but he has made it through the worst of his illness. He has a lot of weight to gain, and then he will be gelded and looking for a home. June 2014 update: Jazz was started undersaddle in May 2013. He is green broke to ride and is doing quite well. He does need an experienced rider to teach him all the things he needs to know. Jazz has a goofy personality that is easy to love. He has been ridden both inside and outside and crosses water well. You can see more pictures of Jazz on his updates page. His adoption fee is $500.

Name:
Julie
Age:
23 years (1989 birthdate)
Gender:
Mare
Species:

Breed:
Thoroughbred
Location:
S.H.A.R.E Sanctuary Horse
Julie's Story:
Because of her issues, Julie will live out her life at SHARE as a sanctuary horse. Julie is being sponsored by Cindy & Faith Dauber.

Julie is an off the track Thoroughbred. She came from Kankakee and was found with horrible wounds on her legs and she was so thin we did not think she would make the trip home. She spent 3 days at the veterinarian for her wounds. They had to inject antibiotics directly into the joint and she stood and let them. She must have known they were trying to help her. She is not sound because of her injuries and arthritis and thus cannot be ridden. Julie is a sweet girl who has found some friends at the rescue, in fact she is serving as a guide horse for a blind horse at the rescue.

Name:
Molly
Age:
14 (born 1998 estimated)
Gender:
Mare
Species:
Horse
Breed:
Belgian
Location:
SHARE - Sanctuary/adoption
Molly's Story:
Because of her physical issues (dropping pasterns which may cause her to break-down at any time and very expensive dietary needs due to PSSM), Molly is a considered a sanctuary horse and will stay at SHARE for the rest of her life. We would love to have a monthly sponsor to help out with her expenses. A sponsorship is $100/month but any amount helps!

My name is Molly and if you hadn't noticed, I am a big girl. To get myself back into good shape, I have to gain some weight and regain the muscles in my back legs. I have a metabolic disorder that makes it difficult for me to eat like a normal horse. I require a high fat diet and lots of rich alfalfa hay. When I first came to SHARE, I could barely walk, I had lost so much weight and had a lot of muscle wasting on my back legs. As you can see I am doing much better. I have a huge heart and am very gentle despite my big size.

Montana's Story:
ADOPTED!!! Montana is a black Arabian gelding who came from the Muncie, IL rescue, you can read about it here. Actually a few days before SHARE removed all the horses from the property, they got loose, and local animal control was able to catch Montana. Knowing there was an investigation in the works, they asked SHARE to come get Montana.

Montana is a nice gelding who enjoys attention from people and does well in a group. We have evaluated Montana under saddle and he is suitable for an intermediate rider! Montana does well riding in the arena but prefers to be ridden outside. He is the type of horse that really would like his own person. Although he does well with many different people handling him and riding him you can see the difference in his demeanor when you have the same person work with him regularly. Montana would really love to find his special person. You can see more pictures of Montana on his updates page. His adoption fee is $500.

June 2014 Update: Moonshine was evaluated undersaddle and he is broke to ride! We think he would do best with an intermediate or better rider at this time as he is a bit rusty. Breed:

Prince's Story:
Prince is a 5 year old gelding who is roughly 14 hands high (too timid to stick yet). He came from the Toledo Ten rescue and was severely emaciated. (He is the black horse in the trailer--one of the worst.)

Update: 12/12/11--Prince is coming along very nicely. He has gained some much needed weight but still has a ways to go. He is starting to come around and is learning to trust people more and more every day. He is becoming easier to handle and is not trying to bolt every time he is lead. He has learned that he really enjoys to be groomed and he loves treats! He will make a great horse for someone very soon!

As of January, we have gelded Prince and he is recovering nicely. He is still very timid but he is being handled regularly and doing fine and learning to lunge as well! We would love to have an experienced foster home (or equine professional willing to donate their time) to give him the one-on-one time he needs to turn around. Please fill out an adoption application whether you are interested in fostering or adopting Prince.

As of February, it takes a little bit of work to even approach him in a stall because he's so scared. We would love to get him into a foster home with an equine professional to continue working with him. He is very cute and well put together, so he will make someone a lovely horse once his issues are addressed.

Rosebud's Story:
Rosebud is available again after being previously adopted from SHARE along with Inkspot. Their adopter can no longer care for them, but she’s graciously agreed to let them stay with her until we find them a home. Her description: They are both true the Caspian breed in that they are super easy to train & very smart. They are not at all flighty & both have a super calm disposition. Inky can be a little stinker but nothing mean or anything like that. Rosie has had 30 days of professional training … she has been ground driven & ridden western / snaffle. Rosie injured her stifle while in training & was pulled out because of that injury. At this point, she is sound & should have no problem continuing training. I would, however, recommend putting a weight limit on a rider, maybe a small child 75lbs or less. I think she’d be just fine without restrictions driving. Rosie is truly the SWEETEST horse I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Both, Inky & Rosie, are adorable & tons of fun to have around. It’d be awesome if they could be adopted together. If not, they will both do fine being adopted separately (they went to training at different times & did fine with the separation … Rosie did better then Inky … Rosie did not call out at all … she is very independent & will often wonder off by herself to graze. They are currently pastured with 3 average sized horses & they have no problems within the heard … they can hold there own or move out if need be. They are not at all afraid of dogs … Inky will chase them & Rosie will ignore them. They are both great for the vet. Rosie is good for the farrier … They both lead, load & tie with ease. They will cross water on lead or on their own … we have not tried to ride either thru water but I am sure they’d learn to carry a rider thru water in short order. They will step over small logs, leap big ones & have absolutely no issues with tight spaces … be sure & shut the people door :) I know them both well enough to know that it’d be super easy to train them to team drive & how cute would that be :) They are both super weed whackers … they trim both the inside & outside of entire fence line. My husband has not had to trim once since they arrived & he will not let me electrify the fence for that very reason.

Sadie's Story:
Sadie is a 5 year old Welsh cross pony filly. She's 11 hands high and in good condition. She's adorable but was literally spoiled into having some behavior problems that resulted in her family no longer being able to keep her.

With a volunteer trainer, Sadie has come a long way since she first came in! She is now being ridden comfortably at a walk, trot, and canter both indoors and outdoors! She even had a kid on her and went on a trailride on Middlefork--crossing water, big logs, and keeping up with the big horses with no problems. She is still green but at this time we believe an advanced beginner or intermediate child can handle riding her. She would be a heck of a pony club mount for the teen who wants to go-go-go and do it all! She still has some bratty pony behavior in her stall so needs an adult around to supervise.

Sadie's adoption fee is $300.

Shadow was adopted from SHARE about 5 years ago and had to come back due to some financial changes in her owner's life. She will be much missed but everyone hopes that Shadow can find a new family to love her just as much. She's kid-broke, and was primarily ridden by a 14 year old at her previous home. We almost never get in kid-broke horses but now we have one! July 2014 update: We have been struggling to get Shadow's heaves under control since coming back to SHARE. At this time she is only pasture sound as we feel that being ridden would just be too much for her.

Keep track of Shadow on her Updates page. $500 adoption fee.

Gender:
Mare

Shelby's Story:
Shelby is a mare and she is everything that implies! We were contacted by a boarding barn, Shelby’s owners quit paying board and she was going to be euthanized if we didn’t take her. We were told she was a kid’s horse but quickly found out that was not the case. Perhaps at one point someone had a kid riding her, and that could have been where things went south for Shelby.

See, she is a mare. There is a saying, tell a gelding, ask a mare. Sometimes mares say no. Shelby said no and got away with it a few too many times. She’s fine on the ground and actually has good ground manners, but when we got her, Shelby said NO to having a rider! We had her checked by several good lameness vets, her teeth have been checked, floated, and checked again. She’s had chiro, saddle fit is not an issue, and there is nothing physical wrong with her.

We sent her to a professional trainer in January 2012 where he really made a break through with Shelby. There’s no doubt she will still test a new rider, and will probably always need an experienced rider. She has much less attitude, we have a few tricks up our sleeve for redirecting that attitude, and she will do best the more she is ridden. This is a horse that truly needs a job. She’s not too tall and very stocky—maybe she has a career as a ranch horse? She’s not real spooky—maybe police work or search and rescue?

We took Shelby to Moraine View park in Le Roy, IL for a trail ride. We’d started to observe she is a much happier horse outside of the arena and riding around the SHARE property and down the road, so we took it a step further by trailering her off site to ride. Shelby saw wild turkeys, deer, waited for traffic to cross roads. She led, she was in the middle, she was last. She tied next to strange horses, she drank on the road, she rode around bareback. Nothing phased her! Now Shelby is still Shelby. She will test her rider the first time that rider is on her back, but Michelle, her rider in these photos has been riding her occasionally. Shelby tested Michelle when she first started a couple of weeks ago and moved on. Michelle unloaded her, saddled her up, and got on. No lunging or other preparation and Shelby was just good! You can watch a video of clips from the trail ride.

Shelby is 15.1 hands high, always been barefoot with us, gets along fine in a herd, and is current on all cares. Shelby is ready for her second chance, will you give it to her? She is fine to handle on the ground. Her adoption fee is $300.

June 2012: Although Shelby was doing really well undersaddle she still was not quite happy. We had multiple vets look at her since she came in and no one could find anything wrong. Then, after a trim, she came up lame. We took her back to the vet once more where she had extensive radiographs done. An old injury was found on one of her ankles. At this point we made the decision to retire her. Shelby is looking for a home as a pasture pet only.

You can keep track of new photos, videos, and other progress on her updates page.

Shelby's adoption fee is $300. She is also available for our foster program. Email sharehorses@gmail.com if interested.

Shygirl's Story:
Shygirl is a Missouri Foxtrotter who is looking for a home. She is good friends with Copper but they do not need to be adopted together. We believe Shygirl to be fully sound. We have had a saddle on her but she's kind of nervous about it, but there's no reason why someone couldn't finish her training and make her a riding horse. Unfortunately, she's been put on the back burner for training several times so we hope to find her an experienced volunteer to work with her to complete her training or someone that would adopter her and finish her training themselves or with a professional. Shygirl is easy to handle on the ground and a sweet horse to be around.

Shygirl's adoption fee is $500. She is also available for our foster program or our training foster home program. Email sharehorses@gmail.com if interested.

Sierra's Story:
In July 2011, SHARE went back to the nurse mare farm with a local family who were willing to take on some nurse mares home to raise themselves. There we met Sierra, and the owner said she was going to go straight to slaughter because she was mean. Sierra bore the evidence--injuries on her forehead where she had been hit with a 2x4.

Once at SHARE, we found Sierra to be sweet and a little bit shy. She had no training, so she had no manners, but she was definitely not a mean horse. While awaiting the birth of her baby, Sierra experienced kind and consistent handling at SHARE and now has good ground manners and is very easy to handle. Sierra gave birth to a beautiful filly (Morning Star) on February 16th. They are both healthy and Sierra is a loving, wonderful mom. They were weaned in mid-August and Sierra is ready to meet potential adopters.

Sierra appears to be fully sound, we don't believe her to be started under saddle. She went to a training foster home (very close to SHARE) in the winter of 2012 where they will work towards starting her in Spring 2013. Sierra is 15.0 hands high and has a big solid and well-balanced quarter horse build with a feminine mare's head and ears. Sierra looks like a ranch horse type and seems like she would be good at many related disciplines, roping, ranch work, or trails and cruising around at home. Sierra's adoption fee is $500.

Sophie's Story:
Sophie is 10. She was unhandled previously as part of a broodmare band but had 6 months with her previous home with good care, and she's getting handled regularly now. She is a little standoffish at first but she's just not sure. She will be a friendly horse in no time at all. She is registered and her papers will go with her but we do not allow breeding of the rescues. June 2014 Update: Sophie has been worked with regularly by one of our volunteers and is doing great! She accepts a bridle and saddle and is close to accepting a rider! She has been ground driven quite a bit. Sophie is going to make someone a great horse. Won't you give her a chance? July 2014: Sophie is now officially started undersaddle! She is doing great! She really enjoys having a job and is comfortable with a rider on her. Sophie just needs someone willing to earn her trust and continue to help her learn. Her adoption fee is $500.

Spirit came to our facility originally back in 2009. She was adopted to a family with a couple of teenage girls who also adopted Dazzle. Both Dazzle and Spirit were ridden all over by the girls. Spirit is only about 14 hands tall and is easy to handle. Spirit and Dazzle came back to us because the family was moving and could not care for them anymore. Spirit is only sound to be a pasture pet. She does need to wear front shoes all year round but otherwise does not need any special care. Her adoption fee is $500

Sunny's Story:
Sunny is a gorgeous palomino. Sunny can be haltered and walks quietly on a lead. She is learning how to lunge. We have introduced her to a saddle pad and she accepted it willingly. She is not started to ride and will need an experienced handler or a foster home to bring her along would be great too.

As of January 2012 Sunny is becoming easier to catch and handle. She picks up all four feet and she is learning how to longe. She just needs some consistency and will be able to be ridden in no time! In mid-February Sunny went to a professional trainer. We know that she will make great progress. Please contact us for the latest info on her progress or submit your application now. March 2014, update! Sunny is at a professional trainer and is now started undersaddle. She is very willing and doing wonderful. She will spend 90 days total with the trainer and will have a great foundation when she leaves. We would love to have her forever home waiting for her when she leaves! July 2014, Sunny has had 4 months of professional training but is still green broke to ride. She needs someone who is willing to work with her and help her build her confidence. She has come a very long way while at the trainer and know that she will continue to improve. She just needs that special person to give her the knowledge she needs. Sunny is a smooth ride with beautiful gaits. She has been ridden both indoors and outdoors. She is ready to make someone the great horse they have been looking for!

Twiggy's Story:
Twiggy is a 2011 Nurse Mare orphan. You can read more about their story on their page. She came in with horrible urine burns and a fungal infection that had taken most of the hair on her face and some spots on her body as well. She was our youngest nurse mare foal and not one we'd planned on, but she clearly wasn't doing well and we couldn't leave her behind!

Twiggy's hair has grown in and she is a healthy and lovely young lady. She is used to lots of handling, is halter broke and will stand pretty good for the farrier. At a year old, she's doing great. In May 2012 at almost exactly 1 year old she is 13.2 hands high. She has no signs of her rough start and our vet said the nurse mare colts will not have any lasting issues because of it. She's adorable, sweet, and ready for her forever home!

June 2014 Update: Wow!! So hard to believe how this little girl's life started! Twiggy is now started undersaddle and is doing phenomenal! She is ready to be finished in any direction you want her to go. Won't you give this lovely lady the forever home she so deserves? Stay up to date on Twiggy's progress on her updates page.
